Coded Welder
Location: Graham Hart Process Technology Ltd, Bradford
Hours: 38-hour, four-day working week (Monday–Thursday, 7:30am–5:30pm)

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Coded Welder to join our growing manufacturing team.

The Role & Responsibilities

Performing butt welds, corner joints, fillet welds, and partial penetration welds using TIG, SMAW, and FCAW processes

Producing welds that meet visual inspection and UT/RT standards

Inspecting and approving joint preparation and fit-up prior to welding
-
Welding in full compliance with allocated WPS and WPQRs
-
Completing all required welding documentation (job books, welder logs, etc.)

Participating in planning meetings and toolbox talks

Reporting any defects or welding performance issues

Taking responsibility for allocated welding equipment and consumables

Supporting general fabrication tasks where required

Complying with all company processes, procedures, and SHE requirements

Participating in additional training (e.g. crane safety, pressure testing, first aid)
Essential Skills & Experience
-
Apprentice-trained welder with relevant welding qualifications
-
Current or recent coded welding experience
-
Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols
-
Proven ability to produce high-quality TIG roots across multiple joint types
-
Experience with multi-layer fillet and groove welds
-
Experience working with various weld preparations (single, double, J preps, etc.)

Proven delivery of pressure-retaining welds to X-ray or UT standards
-
Experience welding material thicknesses from 3mm to 15mm+

Experience with stainless steels and nickel alloys

Strong understanding of welding defects and how to prevent them

Good written and spoken English, with solid numeracy skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pride in producing consistently high-quality work
Desirable Skills

Additional welding qualifications or specialist experience

Willingness to work overtime, flexibly, or on-site (UK and overseas) when required

Openness to learning new techniques and developing new skills

A proactive attitude with a proven track record of contributing ideas and solutions
Minimum Qualifications on Recruitment
-
Apprentice-trained welding background
-
Valid welding certifications (e.g. ASME IX, BS EN 15614, or equivalent)

Experience welding pressure vessels and/or shell & tube heat exchangers
-
Up-to-date welding certificates
